Through their community model, which engages the entire tech ecosystem (students, educators, familes, tech leaders, and beyond), Common Sense Media aims to foster digital literacy and well-being for underserved youth. Their programs complement STEM education, providing the foundational skills for students, professional development for teachers, and guidance for parents to navigate and harness the potential of the digital world – covering topics ranging from healthy media balance and online privacy to media literacy and artificial intelligence. Common Sense Media seeks support to build the digital literacy infrastructure for Miami’s youth through three programs centering key stakeholders in providing digital literacy: Educators, Families, and Community.
With more than fifteen years of experience, Common Sense Media pioneered the field of digital literacy and digital citizenship with their award-winning curriculum, developed in partnership with the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Today, their free resources and training reach nearly 1 million educators in over 97K schools across the country, including 75% of U.S. Title I schools, and nearly 2,500 educators in Miami.
